Who is in your Nourishing Network?

We have been talking about the Five Keys to Shine Hope™ on all of our channels, courses, and books as it highlights skills that are critical for maintaining a sense of hope, no matter what challenges are ahead.

Last week, we talked about Inspired Actions and goals. Today, I want to highlight the ‘N’ on the Five Keys to Shine Hope, Nourishing Networks.

Your Nourishing Networks are the people in your life who provide you support, help you stay on track, encourage you to succeed, and who you do the same for in return.

They are positive influences, keeping you moving forward and cheering you on. Did you know you are up to 95% more likely to achieve a goal if you write it down, and check in with someone regularly. Your team is critical.

I find the New Year to be a good time to evaluate who is in my network, and make sure they are nourishing me. Some relationships can be toxic, so it is a good time to reflect and clean-up. I found this article in PsychCentral about how to end a toxic relationship really helpful, as it is challenging to say goodbye yet also critical to achieving what we want in life.

When I got sober 19 years ago, I had to end a lot of relationships that weren’t serving me, and used a lot of those steps to make it happen.

It is also important to improve our current relationships. I love this BetterUp article on 10 ways to be a better friend. Relationships take work, and intention,  which is why I am getting serious about improving my relationships with the people I want in my network. It is critical to how hopeful I feel, and improves my mental health.

Are there relationships you are saying goodbye to? What are the strategies you are incorporating to improve your health? I’d love to hear more, or feel free to share on our recent post on social media.

Wishing you a hope-filled week!

Keep Shining Hope,

Kathryn

Measure Your Hope

Most people don’t realize there is a Science of Hope. That you can measure it. And through our work, we have shown you can teach it. The first step in understanding your hope, is seeing how hopeful you are. And no matter what your score, don’t forget. Hope is a journey. As you move forward in life, your hope levels will rise and fall. That’s okay. If you practice your hope skills regularly, no matter how hopeless life seems in the low moments, you will always have a map to find your way back to hope. Check out our free validated hope scale.
