It's Time To Prioritize Mental Health In The Workplace
Have you heard? The World Federation for Mental Health released the theme for World Mental Health Day on October 10th, 2024: “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.” With over 2000 participants from 116 countries, the selection process for this theme was truly inclusive, reflecting the urgent need and profound opportunity to prioritize mental well-being in workplaces worldwide.
It’s great to hear, and so important that workplaces take notice and address not just individual mental health, but provide resources for the family. A recent by UAMS noted that 53% of parents are missing work a day a month due to their child’s mental health. Workplaces need to look at the entire costs of mental health in their organization and invest in comprehensive approaches beyond just employees.
This year’s World Mental Health Day 2024 theme motivates us even more to do our work, from providing educational programs that empower individuals and organizations to prioritize mental health, promoting the Shine Hope framework, offering employee volunteer opportunities to teach the Hopeful Minds program, and training leaders to foster hope in workplaces everywhere. We also have a Parent’s Guide we license to allow parents to learn how to use Hope language at home.
I’ll be joining One Mind at Work May 6-8 to train leaders on hope science, and excited to learn more from them on what is working in mental health. How are you activating hope in your workplace? We’d love to hear, and know what is working. The challenge is great, we must innovate together.
And for an extra dose of hope, we bring you a new episode of The Hope Matrix podcast featuring Grace Ramirez, a chef, humanitarian, educator, author, and TV personality. Chef Grace’s remarkable story of hope, determination, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world is beyond compare. Check it out!
