Hopebeat Weekly: October 8, 2024
Activate Hope this World Mental Health Day
In this issue of the Hopebeat Weekly, we’re exploring stories, strategies, and the science behind hope—specifically, how it impacts the workplace and campuses.
Introducing a NEW Podcast – The Hope Matrix on Campus!
Over 60% of college students experience difficulties with their mental health. So this World Mental Health Day, we give extra effort on activating Hope on Campuses.
We are excited to launch a new edition of The Hope Matrix, one for college students! The first ever episode of The Hope Matrix Podcast on Campus features The Shine Hope Company’s Community Hope Activator, Avery Peel. Avery is a recent University of Arkansas graduate with a degree in Psychology, and is excited to bring her wisdom to the airwaves.
It was an honor to be her first guest, and we can’t wait to share the work we aim to do on campuses across the country. Avery gets deep into my story, and I’m excited to learn from her and all the amazing guests she has in store, including Miss Arkansas USA! Subscribe and follow our channels to receive updates when this special episode drops. Stay tuned!
Join Us in Celebrating World Mental Health Day for Workplace Mental Health
October 10th is the World Mental Health Day, an important reminder to prioritize mental health, most especially at work. Train Your Workplace Leaders, Managers, and Staff on Activating Hope by inviting Kathryn Goetzke as your trainer.
Partner with us on Cause Marketing Campaigns that activate the Shine Hope™ framework on product and support iFred, and our programming with youth for those in underserved communities.
Hand out Shine Hope brochures or Moments of Hope cards to your employees
You can also participate in the World Federation for Mental Health’s initiative for the World Mental Health Day at wmhdofficial.com.
Do You Practice Happiness Habits at Your Company?
Happiness Habits are healthy, long-term actions that cause your brain to release happiness hormones including endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin.
Happiness Habits help you stay in your upstairs brain, where you access the problem-solving skills, collaboration, goal-directed behavior, and passion critical for hope. Goals are key in the workplace, which is why cultivating happiness helps make your employees healthier, more engaged, and better able to achieve bold workplace ambitions. Here are some ideas for cultivating Happiness Habits:
I cultivate Happiness Habits through early morning exercise and eating greens, as well as learning and using my strengths, setting daily goals, ensuring I get enough sleep, laughing with colleagues when stress is especially high, having weekly check-ins, and playing pickleball with coworkers.
What are your favorite Happiness Habits? Consider sharing with us on social media @theshinehopecompany or via email to improve others’ lives and activate hope.
The Power of Gratitude for Hope
Gratitude is one of the most powerful Happiness Habits. That is why we are excited that episode #40 of The Hope Matrix Podcast features gratitude expert Dr. Erwin Valencia, founder of Gratitude Gang, and Former Physical Therapist and Assistant Athletic Trainer of New York Knicks. From his humble beginnings to becoming a leader in mental health advocacy, Erwin shares his Shine Hope Story and the power of gratitude.
