New Research on Hope

How Hope and Mindfulness Support Trauma Recovery in Black Adults

A new study highlights the powerful role of Hope and mindfulness in supporting well-being among Black adults who have experienced trauma, citing that 12-14% of Black adults meet criteria for PTSD. Both Hope and mindfulness were linked to greater well-being and lower PTSD symptoms, but Hope had a particularly strong connection to psychological and subjective well-being. While mindfulness uniquely helped with PTSD, these findings suggest that fostering both Hope and mindfulness could be key to improving mental health and resilience in trauma-exposed Black adults.
