My Recent Address to the United Nations at the Mental Health of Children and Young People Event
I attended and spoke at the United Nations event for Mental Health of Children and Young People: How Can We Do Better? The Permanent Missions of Canada, Indonesia, Kuwait, Mexico, Qatar, and Romania, alongside the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the UN Youth Office hosted the event to discuss the role which everyone can play in addressing the mental health of children and young people – from the individual level, up to the national and global level.
The event was opened by H.E. Dennis Francis, President of the General Assembly. Keynote speakers were Andrew Solomon, Professor of Clinical Medical Psychology in Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, Lecturer in Psychiatry at Yale University, writer and lecturer on politics, culture and psychology, winner of the National Book Award, and Devora Kestel, Director, Department of Mental Health and Substance Use, World Health Organization. Uma Thurmon, a passionate mental health activate and actress, was also in attendance.
The meeting was held April 3, 2024 at the ECOSOC Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, NY.
